Leaving to the right side of the Marine Port, we take the bike path that will take us to an absolute rural environment.

This route fully runs through the interior of Baix Empordà, however we will have great views of the Costa Brava.

We will ride by the burricleta through the farmlands, vineyards, orchards and wooded areas, bearing in mind the objective to be achieved is the Fitor hermitage, located in one of the buttresses of the Gavarres. Pedaling quietly through the valleyof Vall-llobrega and enjoying the rural manors and some quiet time to think, we can reach high points from where we can see watchtowers of pirates and other hidden items from the plains where we started our route. We will also have the opportunity to visit the Fitor hermitage, one of the highest points in the area and learn of the legends from the region. Retracing our steps of the path, we reach the viewpoint of Montras to observe the entire coast that covers from Begur to Palamós, a navy blue struggling to conquer the terrain with the last remnants of the buttresses that are going to die at the edge of the cliffs that are so characteristic of the area.

A rural and wild landscape fills our view enhanced by all of the blues of the Mediterranean.

This route will show you one of the purest central parts of the Costa Brava. We will ride through the green paths between the sea and the mountains.

Leaving Palamos marina and passing along the upper part of the town, we immediately enter the “vía verde” linking the village of Palamós with Palafrugell through the railway of the Small Train (El Tren Petit). This curious railway was created thanks to the main industry in the area (cork), the but was also used by neighbors from nearby villages as transportation between the sea and the mountains.

In the middle of the Small Train railway,we will leave the main trail and we head to the pretty village of Calella de Palafrugell, famous for its habaneras. Leaving Calella, we enter, by GR, the path lined by pine trees defying the coast. We pass in front of the magnificent gardens and beautiful castle ofCap Roig which are definitely worth the stop.

Leaving the gardens behind, pedaling up Castell beach, where the boldest may make a small hiketo the Iberian settlement of Castell. At this point lies one of the purest preserved beaches left in central Costa Brava- enjoy this privileged environment.

After relaxing, we will arrive on our burricletas at the port of Palamós.
